COUNSELLING
Sometimes, all we need is someone to talk to. Someone
who can compassionately listen without any judgements and
simply be present with us. Counselling can be useful
whenever you feel overwhelmed by situations you don't know
how to emotionally deal with – e.g. the loss of your
job, your health or a loved one. Asking for help is not a
sign of weakness, but of
self-responsible
empowerment.
Even if we are generally blessed with supportive friends
and family members, they're often part of the story
themselves, having to deal with their own issues and
agendas. Because I am not involved in the situation, I can
support you by reflecting it back to you from a different
perspective, facilitating new insights and understandings
without the need to “fix” you.
As a method of dealing with overwhelming emotions and
obsessive thoughts, counselling is not about changing the
situation (which often is impossible) but your
response to it.
Unless specifically requested, I hardly ever work with
counselling alone. As soon as the client feels safe and
confident enough to proceed into more active methods of
transformation, I incorporate
holistic
facilitation into the sessions. I'm also happy to
teach self-empowering techniques like
self-hypnosis &
meditation if this is appropriate and
wanted.
